Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital follows the boxing community shared sympathy for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
